Huskies Announce 2019-20 Schedule

SEATTLE --- University of Washington women's tennis head coach Robin Stephenson announced an impressive 2019-20 schedule featuring 17 dual matches against teams ranked in the final 2018 ITA rankings in a bid to return to the NCAA tournament for the second-straight season.
The Huskies opened the fall season October 5 at the ITA All-American Championship before hosting the Husky Invitational Oct. 11-13. The Huskies then head to the ITA Northwest Regional Championships hosted by Stanford Oct. 18-22, then travel to Southern California for the Jack Kramer Invitational Oct. 31-Nov. 3. Washington closes out the fall portion of the schedule at the ASU Thunderbird Invitational Nov 8-10.
The spring portion of the schedule opens on Sunday, Jan. 12 as the Huskies host Seattle U at 12:00 pm before welcoming in Eastern Washington at 3:30 p.m. Washington then heads to Hawaii for a pair of dual matches, facing Hawaii on Jan. 15 and Florida State--which finished the 2019 season ranked No. 15--on Jan. 17.
For the first time, Washington hosts the ITA Kick-off Weekend on Jan. 25-26. The winner of the kick-off heads to the ITA Indoor Championships Feb. 7-10 in Chicago. The Huskies open the kick-off against No. 33 Princeton at 2:00 pm Jan. 25 while No. 16 USC faces No. 27 Kentucky. The winners of the two matches play on Jan. 26.
After home matches against Portland (Jan. 31) and No. 64 Purdue (Feb. 1), the Huskies take a big road trip to the heartland, facing No. 60 Kansas State on Feb. 14 before heading to No. 13 Kansas on Feb. 16.
The schedule remains tough as Washington returns home to face off against No. 31 Illinois on Feb. 23 to kick-off a five-match homestand. After Illinois, the Huskies open Pac-12 play against Utah on March 6 and Colorado on March 8. UW then faces a pair of non-conference foes, hosting Baylor on Mar. 14 and Idaho on Mar. 17.
Washington closes out the remainder of its schedule in conference play, beginning with a trip to Los Angeles to take on No. 16 USC on Mar. 21 and No. 7 UCLA on Mar. 22. The Huskies travel to Eugene to take on Oregon on Mar. 29, then return to Seattle to battle defending NCAA champ Stanford on April 3 and No. 18 California on April 4.
After a trip through the desert to take on No. 34 Arizona State (Apr. 10) and No. 49 Arizona (Apr. 11), the Huskies close out the regular season against No. 36 Washington State at home on April 17 in the Boeing/Apple Cup Series match.
Washington finished the 2018-19 season with its best winning percentage in program history after posting a 21-5 record, earning Stephenson Pac-12 Coach of the Year honors. The Huskies reached the NCAA Round of 16 for the first time since 2009 after hosting the first two rounds of the tournament for the first time in 15 years.
