Husky Women's Tennis European Tour: Day 3
September 16, 2018 | Women's Tennis
BARCELONA --- The Husky women's tennis team wrapped up their third day in Barcelona during the teams preseason European Tour. The team spent the day continuing to practice on the clay courts, as well as enjoying their last day in Spain before the team heads to Paris.
Junior Katarina Kopcalic recapped Day 3 of the tour:
"Hi Huskies! This is Kat, starting my junior year with a bang in Europe!"
"Although it was our last day in Barcelona, it was nothing less than another beautiful and a full spirited day for the Huskies."
"The day started off with eating a delicious to-go breakfast on the subway as we were on our way to practice! As we got to the clay courts the energy and enthusiasm was great from the start.ย The rain from the night before presented us with a hot, humid day that brought out the best in us. The girls showed intensity and hard work, nothing better than starting the day off with a good sweat!"
"We returned to the hotel and had to quickly shower and check out.ย Once we finished, we had lunch at a local restaurant called Kane Room. One last Spanish meal! After lunch we were free to roam around Barcelona until it was time to leave for the airport."
"We saw much of the narrow, intertwining streets of old Barcelona and got the chance to experience the local ambience. At every corner there was a new sight. From cafes to shops to cathedrals the history and culture was flourishing with every step."
"Later in the afternoon we headed over to the airport to catch our flight to Paris!ย Adios Barcelona, Bonjour Paris!"

Why did you choose to come to the University of Washington?

How and when did you start to play tennis?
"I started playing tennis when I was six. My dad and my brother would usually hit at the local courts and I would come and watch. Eventually my dad started including me in the practices and I just kept going from there."
Who is your favorite tennis player?
"Roger Federer"
What are your goals for the season?
"My personal goals are to be ranked in the Top-100 by the end of the season. My goals for the team are to make it to NCAA Championships again and to beat Stanford!"
What is your favorite tennis memory?
"One of my favorite tennis memories was when I was in Mexico with two other girls and we qualified for the Junior World Cup! The JWC was in Europe and we were all very excited. We all jumped in the pool after that."
What is something that people may not know about you?
"I can speak three languages; Serbian, French and English"
What do you enjoy to do in Seattle?
"Rent boats/canoes down by the lake and enjoy a nice summer day while eating some good food!"ย
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
"I love reading and watching movies, I also love traveling and just exploring new places with my friends."
Where is your favorite place that you've ever visited?
"The Netherlands. It's So clean and beautiful! The people are amazing also."
If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
"I would like to be invisible and time travel. So I could eavesdrop on top secret stuff haha"
