Huskies Chart Course For 2018
August 07, 2018 | Cross Country
SEATTLE - Washington has mapped out its road for the fall cross country season, starting in just one month's time with the annual Sundodger Invitational on Sept. 8. Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Maurica Powell and Head Coach Andy Powell head into their first seasons leading the distance Dawgs with sights set on reaching the NCAA Championships in November in Wisconsin.
The Sundodger Invitational at Lincoln Park in West Seattle will be the lone home appearance for the Huskies this fall. From there the men's and women's teams will take separate trips, with the men racing next at the Battle In Beantown in Boston on Sept. 21. The women will have three weeks between the Sundodger and their next outing, the Stanford Invitational on Sept. 29 where they will get a preview of this year's Pac-12 Championships course.
The squads will come together again for the annual Pre-Nationals on Oct. 12, hosted by Wisconsin in Madison.
The championship portion of the schedule starts with Pac-12s on Oct. 26 at Stanford. Two weeks later the Huskies will head to Sacramento for NCAA West Regionals on Nov. 9. The Huskies will then hope to be on the starting line for the NCAA Championships on Nov. 17, hosted by Wisconsin at the Thomas Zimmer Championships Course.
Both Husky squads made the NCAA Championships a year ago, with the men finishing 22nd overall and the women 21st.
