Huskies Roll Past Seattle Pacific 5-0 in Exhibition
August 16, 2018 | Men's Soccer
SEATTLE --- Scott Menzies scored twice and Blake Bodily recorded a goal and an assist to lead the University of Washington men's soccer team to a 5-0 exhibition victory over Seattle Pacific University on Thursday night at Husky Soccer Stadium.
The Huskies looked sharp from start to finish, dominating play in the midfield, leading to a commanding 24-4 edge in shots.
Menzies got Washington on the board in the 19th minutes, heading home a corner kick to put the Huskies up early. He would add another in the 37th minute, gathering a loose ball, making a pair of nifty moves to create space, then firing the shot to the left corner.
Senior Quentin Pearson got in on the act just before halftime. Junior transfer Daniel Ribas started the play with a blast from the top of the box. The shot was saved by a diving netminder, but went right to Pearson in front of the open net who slotted it home.
In the second half, Washington took a four-goal lead as Bodily converted a PK in the 58th minute. After a handball call in the box on what looked to be a sure goal by Bodily, the sophomore stepped up and converted the spot kick to make it a 4-0.
In the 81st minute, Noah Whitman capped the scoring with a nifty finish after getting a nice pass slotted through the Falcon backline by Andrew Conwell.
Junior Saif Kerawala made three saves to earn the cleansheet for Washington.
