SEATTLE --- Junior Carl Yuan has been named to the All-Pac-12 Second Team as announced by the conference office on Thursday.
This is the second-straight year Yuan has earned all-conference honors, earning second-team honors last year as well. As a freshman, Yuan was named to the conference All-Freshman team.
Yuan led the Huskies with a 71.32 scoring average through 10 events this year. He placed in the top 10 in four of those including three top fives and posted six rounds in the 60s. Despite missing a pair of competitions, Yuan also recorded the most rounds below par with 15 on the season.
Yuan's best finish of the season came last week at the Pac-12 Championships in Los Angeles. He finished as the runner-up with a 12-under-par 272, recording a score below par in each of the four rounds.
"Carl has played well overall and been a clear number 1 player for us," said UW Head Coach Alan Murray. "He is a superb ball striker and wouldn't look out of place on a PGA tour range. He wants to win tournaments, of course, and I believe on and around the greens are the areas he can improve on to help him accomplish those goals. He has big potential and looking forward to watching his career progress."
In addition to his UW schedule, Yuan has competed in a pair of prestigious events throughout the year. He was one of six collegiate golfers selected to participate in the 2018 Genesis Open College showcase at the Riviera Country Club on February 12. Yuan, who was partnered with PGA Pro and UW Alum C.T. Pan along with a pair of UW boosters, finished tied for fifth with a 75, just one shot out of second.
Yuan also finished third at the 2017 Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship, carding a final-round 3-under 68 including birdies on the final two holes to finish in a tie for third place at 7-under 277.
Yuan continues his 2017-18 season at the 2018 NCAA Men's Golf Regionals in Stockton, Calif., joining teammate Henry Lee as one of 10 golfers vying for one berth to the NCAA National Championship.
