SAN FRANCISCO - For the third time in the last four years, the #8 Washington GymDawgs put seven on the Pac-12's All-Academic teams, led by First Team selection Monica Riley. Hailey Burleson was also selected to the Second Team, while Michaela Nelson, Evanni Roberson, Joslyn Goings, Kristyn Hoffa, and Maya Washington were all named Honorable Mention.
The GymDawgs have had at least five gymnasts named to the All-Academic teams every year since 2002 and have had seven more more three of the last four seasons. For Burleson, it was her third selection, as the senior has been so honored for her academic excellence every year she has been eligible for All-Academic. Burleson joins former gymnasts Alexandra Yacalis and Kaitlyn Duranczyk as GymDawgs who have earned three All-Academic honors over the last four seasons.
Riley and Goings were each selected for the second time in their careers, with Riley having been selected each of the last two years. Nelson, Roberson, and Washington all earned Honorable Mention in their first years of eligibility for All-Academic awards.
The GymDawgs are headed to the NCAA Regionals next week, set to compete at the University Park Regional hosted by Penn State on Saturday, April 7 at 1:00 pm. Washington finished eighth in the nation in the regular season, its highest regular-season finish ever.
