Jenna Moser to Return for 2018-19 Season
March 27, 2018 | Women's Basketball
SEATTLE – University of Washington women's basketball Head Coach Jody Wynn announced Tuesday that guard Jenna Moser will return to the team next year, using her final year of eligibility while she attends graduate school.
Moser, who graduates this spring with an undergraduate degree in business administration (finance), will pursue a master's degree at UW in Intercollegiate Athletic Leadership beginning this summer.
"I'm really thankful to have the opportunity to return for another year," Moser said. "The potential of this team is exciting and I'm looking forward to being a part of the learning, growth, and development of our program that'll begin this spring and continue into next season. I feel lucky to have a chance to build on the progress made this last season and do bigger things next year."
Moser, who was a four-time state 1B champion and two-time 1B Player of the Year at Colton High School, began her Washington career as a practice player and was not added to the active roster until the 2015-16 season. After two seasons in a limited reserve role, she saw significant playing time and was a major contributor last season. She was the lone player to start all 30 games and led the team in minutes played, averaging 30.9 per game. Moser finished the season averaging 8.9 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.9 steals per contest.
"We are thrilled to have Jenna back for another year in our program," Wynn said. "She epitomizes everything we want in a student-athlete and has been a terrific role model for our young team. Jenna is coming off a terrific year. Her work ethic and attitude is exceptional, and through this she became extremely reliable. We're excited for Jenna to earn her IAL Masters while leading the way for us in 2018-19!"
The Huskies wrapped up the 2017-18 season with a 7-23 record in the first season under Wynn, who inherited a team which lost over 85 percent of its scoring and rebounding. Washington returns nine of 10 players from last year's active lineup and adds at least two incoming players to the squad for next season.
