Nobbs Helps Canada To NACAC U20 Gold

LA LIBERTAD, El Salvador - Two Husky freshmen and one alumni represented their countries today at the NACAC / Pan-American Cup Cross Country Championships in El Salvador, and all three turned in impressive showings. Freshman Thomas Nobbs got the bronze in the men's U20 race and helped Team Canada to the team title in that event.
Nobbs, a native of Vancouver, B.C., redshirted the fall for the Huskies. He earned a spot on Team Canada with a fourth-place finish at the Canadian Junior XC Championships back in November. Today he was the second Canadian and third overall in 25:23 over the 8,000 kilometers, as Canada won gold.
Running for the U.S. U20 team was freshman Tibebu Proctor, who was the runner-up at the U.S. Junior XC Championships earlier this month in Florida. Proctor was 12th overall today and third among Americans in 26:13.
Also in action today was former Husky All-American Aaron Nelson in the men's senior race. Nelson earned a top-10 finish, as the U.S. put five runners in the top seven, with Nelson seventh in 31:09 for 10,000-meters.
