Stacey Fung Earns ITA All-America Honors
December 16, 2018 | Tyee Club
It did not take long for Washington women's tennis's Stacey Fung to make an impact on Montlake, as the Vancouver, B.C., native stepped in during her rookie campaign and led the Huskies in singles wins.
Last season, her junior year, Fung continued to build on that success. Playing at No. 1 singles, Fung experienced one of the greatest single-seasons in program history. She accumulated a 27-5 single record en route to earning a spot in the NCAA Singles Championships for the second year in a row. Her .843 winning percentage is the third-highest tally in a season in school history.
Fung ended the season ranked 20th nationally and was ranked as high as No. 6 during the season. She had 12 wins over players ranked in the top-100 and three victories over top-25 players. Based on the year-end ITA rankings, Fung defeated a total of 17 ranked players. For her strong play in conference action, she was awarded All-Pac-12 First Team accolades.
Her outstanding spring culminated with Fung taking home ICA All-America honors – becoming just the seventh Husky ever to be named All-America and the first in seven years. Fung put together a great fall and will look to cap her collegiate career with another outstanding run this spring.
