June 07, 2017 | Women's Tennis
SAN FRANCISCO – The Pac-12 announced the members of their All-Academic teams today for women's tennis, with Washington senior Nour Abbes earning Second Team honors, while Stacey Fung, Kenadi Hance and Miki Kobayashi earned honorable mention.
In her two years with the program Abbes has been a key piece of the Husky lineup on the court, playing her singles at the one and two position for a majority of her time, while playing most of her doubles at the top court as well. The Tunis, Tunisia native amassed over 50 career wins between singles and doubles, ranking as high as 13th in doubles with Miki Kobayashi this past fall season. Abbes currently owns a 3.41 GPA as a Human Evolution Biology major, and is set to graduate this summer.
After being named to the All-Pac-12 Second Team, Fung earns her second conference honor this season as an All-Academic honorable mention. The sophomore improved on her stellar freshman campaign, going 24-11 in singles while earning a career-high ITA Singles Ranking of 29th this year. For her efforts on the season, she was invited to participate in the NCAA Singles Championships last month, the first Husky to participate in the event since Denise Dy in 2012. Fung owns a 3.14 GPA as a pre major for Arts and Sciences.
Joining Fung on the honorable mention list, is fellow sophomore Kenadi Hance. This is the first conference honor for the Torrance, California native, who picked up a combined 38 victories this season between singles and doubles. Hance came up big in key moments for the Dawgs this year, earning the fourth and clinching point in both of Washington's comeback victories from down 0-3. As a Pre-Humanities major, she currently owns a 3.24 GPA.
Earning her second nod from the conference this year is junior Miki Kobayashi, who was named All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention a few weeks ago. The native of Nagano, Japan followed up her record-setting sophomore campaign with an as impressive year this season, going 20-10 in singles while adding 14 wins in doubles. She set career-bests in both singles and doubles ranking this past year, listed at 106th in singles on April 11th, and going as high as 13th in doubles. Currently a pre major for Arts and Sciences, Kobayashi owns a 3.46 cumulative GPA.
