
Eight Huskies Earn All-Academic Honors

SAN FRANCISCO -- The University of Washington softball team placed eight student-athletes on the Pac-12 All-Academic teams, as announced by the league office Monday. To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and appear in at least 50 percent of their team's games during the season.
Junior Taylor Van Zee was named to the first team, while seniors Ali Aguilar and Casey Stangel, along with junior Julia DePonte were second team selections. Juniors Kirstyn Thomas, Kelly Burdick and Trysten Melhart were joined by sophomore Morganne Flores for honorable mention.
Along with the conference academic honors, Aguilar was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District earlier this month.
Washington will be a host to a NCAA Super Regional site next weekend, hosting Utah for a best-of-three series beginning Friday, May 26. For more information and continued updates on Super Regionals go to the GoHuskies.com Super Regional Central.
