Fung, Wong Move Up In ITA Rankings

TEMPE, Ariz. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released rankings following the fall season and Washington women's tennis is represented in singles by Stacey Fung and Vanessa Wong.
Stacey Fung is ranked No. 6, jumping up 12 spots from her No. 12 preseason ranking. She had a strong fall season, going 8-3 in singles matches. At the Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships, she advanced to the quarterfinals. She also won a match at the ITA Fall National Championships. Throughout the fall, she took down six ranked opponents, including wins against three top-25 players.
Freshman Vanessa Wong earned a No. 115 ranking after coming into the collegiate tennis scene with a bang. In her first tournament at the Husky Invite, she won all three of her singles matches, including two wins against ranked foes. At the Jack Kramer Club Invitational, she won the singles championship, winning six matches, battling through three-straight three-set matches and taking down two ranked opponents.
