
Three Huskies Appear On ITA Pre-Season Rankings

TEMPE, Ariz. – As the team approaches the start of the fall season, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced their 2016 Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis Women's Preseason Rankings today, with doubles pair Nour Abbes and Miki Kobayashi entering the 2016-17 year ranked 13th in the country, and sophomore Stacey Fung coming in at 105th in singles.
The upperclassman duo of Abbes and Kobayashi recently qualified for the main draw in doubles at the 2016 Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships in Pacific Palisades, Calif., where they will begin play on October 6th. The pair finished last year ranked 29th by the ITA and were invited to the 2016 NCAA Doubles Championships after defeating two top-five doubles pairs during the regular season.
Last year's team leader in total singles wins and dual match singles wins, Stacey Fung will begin her sophomore campaign ranked 105th in the country, after being ranked as high as 65th as a freshman. The Vancouver, Canada native amassed a 22-11 singles record last season, going 10-2 during the fall and picking up wins over three ranked opponents.
The team's first action will come on October 1st when Nour Abbes, Stacey Fung and Miki Kobayashi head to the All-American Championships. The Huskies will then play in the Michigan Invitational in Ann Arbor, Mich. on October 14th, followed by the ITA Regional Championships October 21st to the 24th, and ending with the Texas A&M Invitational from November 4th to the 6th.
