Four UW women named to the squad
Seven Washington tennis players – four from the women's team and three from the men's – have been named to the 2016 Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Team, the ITA announced Thursday.
Sophia Bott (senior from San Clemente, Calif.), Elianna Douglas-Miron (senior from Ottawa, Ont., Canada), Tami Grende (freshman from Bali, Indonesia) and Miki Kobayashi (sophomore from Nagano, Japan) all earned a place on the team, which is open to varsity student-athletes with a cumulative GPA over 3.20.
Bott and Kobayashi were both Academic All-Pac-12 second-team selections in 2016, while Douglas-Miron was an honorable mention selection.
On the men's side, Gal Hakak (junior from Ra'anana, Israel), Sebastian Hawken (freshman from Oslo, Norway) and Joao Barra (sophomore from Sintra, Portugal) were named to the team. Hakak was also ITA All-Academic in 2015 and made first-team Academic All-Pac-12 in 2016.
