Baker & Jones Named To Thorpe Award Watch List

Huskies' All-Pac-12 defensive backs among 39 players listed.
Washington's Budda Baker and Sidney Jones were among the 39 defensive backs named to the preseason watch list for the Jim Thorpe Award.
The Thorpe Award, established in 1986, is given to the top defensive back in the nation by the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame.
Baker, a safety from Bellevue, Wash., earned first-team All-Pac-12 last season, when he started 12 games, recording 49 tackles, two interceptions and nine pass break-ups.
Jones, a junior corner from Diamond Bar, Calif., was also a first-team All-Pac-12 pick, as well as a District VIII Academic All-America selection. Jones started all 13 games and led the Pac-12 with 14 pass break-ups while also finishing in the conference's top 10 in interceptions (tied for fourth with four), forced fumbles (tied for second with three) and fumble recoveries (tied with fifth with two).
Baker and Jones were previously named to the preseason watch list for the Chuck Bednarik Award and Bronko Nagurski Trophy, both given to the top defensive player in the country.
