
Pereira Ties for Fourth at Northeast Amateur Invitational

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Fresh off earning GolfWeek All-American Honorable Mention honors, University of Washington junior Corey Pereira finished tied for fourth at the 55th Northeast Amateur Invitational Golf Tournament Saturday at Wannamoisett Country Club in Rhode Island.
Pereira, who is now ranked 10th in the World Amateur Golf Rankings, finished the four-round tournament with score of 4-under 272, two strokes behind first place. He opened the event with his best round firing a 3-under 66 which included birdies on five of his first 13 holes. Pereira followed that with back-to-back rounds of 2-under 67 before finishing with a 3-over 72 on Saturday.
The junior just completed a stellar season for the Huskies as he was named a First Team All-Pac-12 selection for the second-straight year after posting five top 10 finishes and only finishing out of the top 25 twice in 11 tournaments. He now has 15 career top 10s at UW, which ranks six all-time.
