GymDawgs Win, Post Season-High On Senior Night
March 13, 2016 | Gymnastics
SEATTLE – UW gymnastics posted a season-high score 196.650 to beat No. 10 Denver and cross-town rival Seattle Pacific, led by Allison Northey's fifth all-around title of the season on Senior Night.
“We are peaking at the right time,” UW head coach Joanne Bowers said. “We are working on the small details in practice, and we've been hitting a really high percentage of our routines. That hit percentage has been phenomenal and the score takes care of itself. That's what we can control. We are in a good place mentally. Our leaders just continue to be such great role models. Their attitude and leadership has really pulled everybody upward.”
Northey won her third all-around title in the GymDawgs' last four meets, posting a 39.500 on all three occasions. She has now posted a 39.500 or better in four meets this season. She finished in the top-3 on all four events and won her third vault title in the last four meets.
“I'm really proud to be part of this team,” Northey said. “Getting a season-high team score is something we always strive for, and doing that at this point in the season is something we can keep building on.”
Duranczyk continued her outstanding season on bars with her fourth straight bars title, and also finished in the top-3 on floor. The GymDawgs got a number of standout performances, including Joslyn Goings' second beam title of the year.
UW has now upped their season-high team score in its last two meets and has posted higher than a 196.000 five of its last six.
