Baseball America came out with its Pac-12 Preview and the Huskies, especially freshman pitcher Joe DeMers, were predicted to have excellent seasons.
The publication predicted the Huskies would be one of seven teams from the conference to earn a post-season NCAA Regional bid. Baseball America felt that with Washington's strong pitching staff and the 15th-ranked group of newcomers, the Huskies would earn a post-season berth.
DeMers, the 2015 California High School Gatorade Player of the Year, is viewed as a perfect complement to sophomore Noah Bremer in the Huskies' starting rotation. He is Baseball America's prediction to earn Pac-12 Freshman of the Year.
The Huskies are through their first full week of practice and open up the season in two weeks on the road agianst Baylor. They two teams will meet for three games in Waco, Texas, with game one of the series scheduled for Friday, Feb. 19.
