COLLEGE STATION, Texas – In their second day of competition at the David Kent Invitational the Washington women's tennis team faced Texas A&M in doubles and Rice and TCU in singles, grabbing three wins.
The Huskies began the day winning one of three doubles matches against the Aggies, with Kenadi Hance and Katarina Kopcalic defeating Stefania Hristov and Tina Bokhua 6-4.
After matching up with her last season when UW hosted Washington State, Stacey Fung faced Donika Bashota who transferred to TCU this summer, coming out on top of a tough three-set match 6-4, 5-7, 10-4.
"This was my second time playing Donika," said Fung. "We weren't able to finish our last match on senior day because we were playing clinch. It was a good match today, we were battling for every point. Overall I'm happy with how I performed tonight."
Washington's second win in singles came from Kopcalic, her second victory of the day and fourth of the weekend. She defeated Priya Niezgoda of Rice 6-1, 6-1 for her sixth singles win of the fall.
"I thought we played pretty solid and were being aggressive today," said Kopcalic. "Kenadi played really well in doubles too so I'm glad we got that win."
The Huskies are scheduled to start at 9 a.m. PT tomorrow for the final day of play in Texas, facing TCU in singles and Rice in doubles.
