Getting To Know Stacey Fung
January 21, 2016 | Women's Tennis
Freshman Stacey Fung has begun her career at Washington with dominant fashion so far, amassing a record of 25-4 in singles and doubles combined. She wasted no time since coming to Seattle with a strong fall season, defeating two ranked opponents in straight sets, No. 54 Sophie Watts of Fresno St. at the Jack Kramer Invitational and No. 65 Apichaya Runglerdkriangkrai of Pepperdine at the Washington Invitational. A finalist at the Jack Kramer Invitational, a 10-2 singles record during the fall led to her regular season rank of 65th in the country to start the regular season. Before Washington the Vancouver, B.C. native was consistently ranked the No. 1 player in her home Province, and had earned a No. 1 ranking in Canada for doubles. A three time Canadian National Doubles champion, Fung has won one ITF singles title and holds a career-high WTA doubles ranking of 769.
With the regular season beginning earlier this month, Fung took a break from the action to answer a few questions in order for us to get to know her a little better:
