BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Washington travels cross country this week to compete in the Shoal Creek Invitational hosted by UAB and alum Graeme McDowell. The Dawgs are fresh off winning co-medalist honors at the Husky Invitational and will look for a second win early in the season this week.
The tournament begins Monday, Sept. 28, with 36 holes and concludes on Tuesday, Sept. 29, with an 18-hole final rounds. The team will play the Shoal Creek Country Club course that plays 7,154 yards as a par 72.
Washington will face a field that consists of all teams from The South. College of Charleston, GRU Augusta, Houston, Mississippi State, North Florida, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Troy, UAB, West Virginia and Winthrop will be the Dawgs opponents this week.
The Dawgs will use a lineup with the same top-three players from the Husky Invitational, but a change at the 4-5 spots. Corey Pereir will lead the Dawgs after winning the Husky Invitational individually for his second college victory. Jonathan Sanders will play out of the second spot, while Jordan Lu will play third.
The changes come at the bottom of the lineup with Kevin Kwon playing in the fourth after winning the Husky Individual last weekend over at Prospector Golf Course, while the Husky Invitational was being played at Tumble Creek. In the fifth spot will be Carl Yuan who will make his Husky debut. Yuan did not play with the Huskies last week because he was back in his native China competing for his province in their national championship.
In addition to the tournament at Shoal Creek, six Dawgs will compete at the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate. These six Huskies will play as individuals at the tournament hosted by Washington State played at Palouse Ridge. Matt Marrese, Chris Babcock, Tyler Salsbury, Greg Gildea, Spencer Weiss and Frank Garber will head to Eastern Washington for the WSU tournament.

| About This Week's Tournament |
At last year's Shoal Creek Invitational, North Florida took home the team title with a three-round score of 859 (-5) and held a three-stroke advantage over runner-up Alabama (862, -2). Individually, North Florida's Joey Petronio (205, -11) and Alabama's Tom Lovelady (206, -10) went toe-to-toe, tying the tournament record for the best score in a single round.
Shoal Creek Golf Club was opened for business in 1977, and was an instant classic, drawing the PGA Championship just seven years later. Since its opening, the Jack Nicklaus designed course has hosted the PGA Championship (1984, 1990), U.S. Amateur (1986), U.S. Junior Amateur (2008), and Regions Tradition, one of five major events on the Champions Tour (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015).
