
Kalmoe Repeats As USRowing Female Athlete Of The Year

PRINCETON, N.J. – Washington alumna Megan Kalmoe has been named the USRowing Female Athlete of the Year for the second year in a row. Her 2015 was highlighted by winning a gold medal in the quadruple sculls at the Senior World Championships in France, marking the first time the U.S. has won gold in the event at the Sr. Worlds.
After winning silver medals in the pairs at both the Rowing World Cup and the Senior World Championships in 2014, Kalmoe won gold with in the quadruple sculls at the 2015 Sr. Worlds and on top of that, she helped to qualify the boat for the 2016 Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where she hopes to make her third Olympic appearance.
Kalmoe also won a gold medal in the eight at the 2014 World Rowing Cup II. She competed in the last two Olympic Games, winning a bronze medal in 2012 in London. She has rowed in World Rowing Cups every year since 2008 and every World Championship since 2009.
Kalmoe rowed at Washington from 2003 to 2006 and was a team captain her senior year.

The bronze medalist in the women's quadruple sculls at the 2012 London Olympics and a finalist in the 2008 Beijing games, Megan Kalmoe serves as the athlete representative to the USRowing High Performance Committee. This is Megan's second consecutive Female Athlete of the Year award."
Kalmoe will be presented with the award at the annual Golden Oars Awards Dinner on November 19 at the New York Athletic Club in New York City. Tickets to the event are available for purchase.
