July 27, 2015 | Baseball
SEATTLE – Later this afternoon (Monday, July 27) former Husky third baseman Jake Lamb will return to a diamond in Seattle for the first time since playing at the University of Washington in 2012. Only this time, it will be inside Safeco Field, as the Seattle Mariners host a three-game series with the Arizona Diamondbacks (July 27-29) this week where you can catch Lamb manning the hot corner.
Lamb was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 6th round of the 2012 MLB Draft. He played AA and AAA for the Diamondbacks Minor League Affiliates until being called up to the Major Leagues in August of last season.
Lamb was a three-year starter for the Huskies where he played the majority of his games at third base. Lamb earned many accolades at the UW, including being named to the Freshman All-America team by Collegiate Baseball, an honorable mention All-Pac-10 in 2010 and 2011, and an honorable mention All-Pac-12 in 2012 while leading the Huskies in games, doubles, RBI, walks, on-base average, and slugging that year.
