Christmas and gameday are both rapidly approaching, leaving Husky players, coaches, staff and family members excited for the upcoming days. In the meantime, preparation for the game and participating in Zaxby Heart of Dallas Bowl activities are in full swing.

Tuesday night both Washington and Southern Miss partook in a welcoming event at Eddie Deen's Ranch for dinner and some friendly competition. The sides battled each other with team chants, followed by a game of “Family Feud.” Southern Miss left winning two of the three competitions, but luckily we all know it is the score on Saturday that only matters.

Wednesday morning was busy as Huskies were sent in different directions to fulfill obligations. Most of the team went to practice at SMU's field, while Coach Petersen and seniors Siosifa Tufunga and Taniela Tupou went to the Cotton Bowl for media day. Simultaneously, several of the players out for the season injured went to the City Square Opportunity to help feed the needy, followed by a visit to the local Children's Hospital.

After practice, everyone reconvened at the team hotel and visited one of Dallas' most famous landmarks. Just a five minute walk from the hotel is Dealey Plaza, site of President John F. Kennedy's assassination.   The team visited the Sixth Floor Museum of what was once the infamous Book Depository. The players quietly learned more about the life, death and legacy of JFK and paid their respects to a spot that will be forever remembered in American history.

The rest of the day, the players had free time before dinner. After dinner, the players get to select their bowl gifts, which is like hand picking your own Christmas gift! Check back again tomorrow for an update on GoHuskies.com and for photos and updates on UW_Football Twitter and Instagram.

Howdy from deep in the heart of Texas! The Huskies left Seattle Monday and landed in balmy Dallas-Fort Worth after a three hour flight on a 350-seat Boeing 777. The team's seven buses knifed through Dallas rush-hour traffic with a police escort and arrived at the team hotel in downtown. After settling in, the team had dinner and took advantage of the player's lounge which features big screen TVs, games and snacks.

On Tuesday, after a team breakfast it was off to Southern Methodist University for practice. The team spent two hours on the Mustangs' practice field before getting in a lift at the facility. Among the visitors at practice was former Husky quarterback and Dallas Cowboys receiver Isaiah Stanback, who now calls Dallas home. He and Damon Huard, another former Husky QB, chatted along the sidelines during practice hashing up some Husky nostalgia.

While some players lifted post practice, a handful of players redshirting the season visited the Juanita J. Craft Recreation Center to meet and mingle with local youths. Dallas' Mayor Mike Rawlings is promoting active and healthy lifestyles among the city's youth, so the Huskies were happy to oblige and promote the initiative. The players participated and led some activities for the kids and then signed autographs and posed for pictures. All in all, fun was had by everyone involved.

Tuesday night, Washington and Southern Miss players will get their first chance to see each other face-to-face. Both teams are gathering for a welcome dinner at Eddie Deen's Ranch.
