
Huskies Add NCAA Champion To Coaching Staff

SEATTLE – The Washington women's tennis team announced today that Amanda McDowell will join the staff during the upcoming regular season as a volunteer assistant beginning in January.
McDowell was a member of the Georgia Tech women's tennis team from 2006 to 2010. While at Georgia Tech she helped lead the Yellow Jackets to a team NCAA Championship in 2007 and was the NCAA singles Champion in 2008. She led the team in singles wins her first two seasons, gathering a fifth-best all time at Tech 39 as a freshman and setting the school record in 2008 with 45. She has the third-most singles wins in a career with 116 and holds the third best singles winning percentage at .753.
A three-time ACC Honor Roll and three-time All-ACC Academic Team member, she was named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team her freshman year, and was a participant at the 2008 US Open. She was also a member of the All-ACC team twice.
Having her most successful season in 2008 while winning the NCAA Singles Championship she was also the ITA All-American Champion in doubles, was named the ITA National Player of the Year, and won the Honda Award.
During McDowell's freshman and sophomore seasons, Husky head coach Robin Stephenson served on the Georgia Tech staff as a volunteer assistant.
McDowell graduated from the University of Georgia School of Law after three years of study this past May, and will join the Huskies while completing her judicial clerkship in Seattle.
