
Three Huskies Have High Finishes At Otter Invite

MONTERREY, Calif. – The Otter Invitational hosted by Cal State Monterey Bay concluded on Tuesday as five Huskies played as individuals, including three placing in a tie for fourth. The Dawgs Gold Squad that will not be making the trip to the Gifford Collegiate gained some experience at the Bayonet and Blackhorse Golf Club on the shores of Monterrey Bay.
The three Huskies to place highly were Kevin Kwon, Jordan Lu and Tyler Salsbury. Each finished the week at 2-under 214, three shots off the lead that was shared by Taylor Hood of Cal State San Bernadino and Richard Mansell of Nova Southeastern.
Kwon and Lu had the best final rounds for the Huskies, each carding an even-par 72, while Salsbury was not far off with a 1-over 73. Kwon led the team with five birdies, but also had three bogeys and a double. Meanwhile, Lu made three birdies to go with three bogeys and Salsbury had just one birdie, but also only two bogeys.
The other Husky with a top-25 finish was Greg Gildea after finishing tied for 21st. Gildea fired a final round of 3-over 75 to finish 3-over for the week.
Spencer Weiss was the final Husky to compete, finishing tied for 27th. Weiss shot 2-over 74 in the final round to finish at 4-over for the championship.
The Huskies will next compete with the Purple Squad at the Gifford Collegiate in Southern California. It will be hosted by UCLA at La Costa Golf Course on November 2-4 and the Dawgs final event of the fall season.
