PORTLAND, Ore. -- Washington continues the fall season with the Nike Collegiate Golf Invitational, beginning Sunday, October 4, at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club. The Dawgs will face a loaded field of the top teams in the country sponsored by Nike.
The first 18 holes will be at the Ghost Creek course that plays as a par 71 of 6,834 yards. Monday and Tuesday's second and third rounds will be played at the Witch Hollow course that plays as a par 72 of 7,015 yards.
Washington will face a field that has 11 teams ranked in the top-25 in the latest Golf Coaches Association of America poll. Those ranked teams along with No. 20 Washington are No. 7 Stanford, No. 9 Texas, No. 10 Clemson, No. 12 Georgia, No. 14 Wake Forest, No. 15 Oklahoma, No. 17 Vanderbilt, No. 18 Oregon, No. 19 USC and No. 22 Duke.
The Dawgs will use their third new lineup of the season, including both freshmen for the first time. Carl Yuan who made his Husky debut last week at the Shoal Creek Invitational, earning a top-10 will play as the Dawgs No. 1. Corey Pereira who won the Husky Invitational to open the year will play as the No. 2, followed by senior Jonathan Sanders.
The bottom two players will be Jordan Lu who has played in all three events this year and Matt Marrese who was the Dawgs top finisher of the six individuals that competed at the Itani Quality Homes Invitational in Pullman last week.

This is the 15th season under head coach Matt Thurmond. He has led the Dawgs to seven top-10 finishes at the NCAA Championships.

Washington returns five players that have played at the NCAA Championships, including Jonathan Sanders and Corey Pereira who have experience in multiple years.

Washington was ranked 20th in the most recent Golf Coaches Association of America Poll.

Cheng-Tsung Pan and his Husky record eight tournament wins is gone, but the Dawgs have three other players who have won college tournaments: Corey Pereira, Jonathan Sanders and Frank Garber.

The Dawgs tied for the win at the season-opening Husky Invitational.

The Huskies won two tournaments last season, the Lamkpin San Diego Classic and the Redhawk Invitational at Chambers Bay.

Oregon won last year's Nike Golf Collegiate Invitational at Colonial Country Club in Dallas. They had a six-shot win over Stanford, while Washington finished fourth. Thomas Lim of Oregon won the individual medal, while Pan led the Huskies, finishing as the runner-up. He finished at 6-under for the week, two shots back of Lim.
Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club is rich in history and tradition, playing host to six USGA championships including Tiger Woods' dramatic victory in the 1996 US Amateur, his unprecedented 3rd consecutive US Amateur championship. Pumpkin Ridge has also hosted two US Women's Opens, and numerous Web.Com Tour and LPGA Tour events. The vision for the NCi is to expose the very best in men's college golf to a PGA Tour like experience played on a major championship golf course and showcase Nike, Inc. and Nike Golf's commitment to the athlete and to sports. Athletes and coaches will have the opportunity to tour Nike's World Headquarters and attend a dinner at the Tiger Wood's Center on Monday Oct. 5th.
