SEATTLE – The Husky Baseball team is proving that success on the field and academic success can go hand-in-hand. The team achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.14 during the 2014 fall quarter, which represents the highest GPA for the team as far back as records go.
The baseball team also led all Washington male large teams in cumulative GPA – a first for the program.
A total of 23 players achieved a grade point average of 3.00 or higher, eight of which were named to the Dean's List: Branden Berry, Tyler Davis, Mac Gaul, Duncan Hendrickson, Spencer Jones, Nyles Nygaard, Alex Schmidt and Will Sparks.
Freshman Levi Jordan, a civil engineering major, led the team with a 3.80 GPA. He is among eight freshmen that notched a GPA higher than 3.00 in their first quarter enrolled at Washington.
The baseball team has now combined for a GPA above 3.00 for the fifth-straight quarter, the longest streak in team history.
