“We are very excited to have Nour join the Husky family,” said Stephenson. “She has a winning background and will immediately add depth and experience to our lineup. Nour has great energy and will be a leader for us on and off the court as she possesses the characteristics that we look for in a student-athlete. We're confident that she will make a positive impact on our program as soon as she arrives on campus.”
Abbes posted a 30-match win streak en route to leading Xavier to the number one NAIA team national ranking and was the runner up at the 2014 USTA / ITA National Small College Championships.
Originally from Tunis, Tunisia, Abbes is a member of Tunisia's FedCup team and has experience on the international circuit building a WTA ranking of 887 in singles and 823 in doubles. She has competed in the US Open, French Open and Wimbledon junior events and achieved a career-high ITF junior world ranking of 48.
Abbes is joined in Stephenson's class of 2015 by Tami Grende and Kenadi Hance, who signed NLIs earlier this fall. Grende comes from Bali, Indonesia and is the reigning Junior Wimbledon Doubles Champion. Hance is out of Torrence, Calif., and is a five-time USTA National Champion while holding claim to five Gold Balls, one Silver Ball and one Bronze Ball.
