UW Heads to USTA/ITA Northwest Regionals

Nine Dawgs will compete in the open singles led by junior Elianne Douglas-Miron who is the 13 seed overall. Joining her will be senior Natali Coronel, senior Riko Shimizu, senior Julija Lukac, senior Natalie Allen, sophomore Angela Chen, junior Capucine Gregoire, junior Sophia Bott and freshmanMiki Kobayashi.
UW will also have five doubles teams competing in Bott/Gregoire, Kobayashi/Ysidora, Coronel/Lukac, Allen/Chen and Douglas-Miron/Shimizu.
Other teams joining UW in ITA Northwest Region are: California, Cal Poly, Eastern Washington, Fresno State, San Jose State, Santa Clara, Seattle, Stanford, UC Davis and Washington State.
Last year, Douglas-Miron and Shimizu each advanced from the opening round of 128 all the way to the round of 16. Additionally, three doubles pairs made it to the round of 16 – Douglas-Miron/Shimizu, Chen/Briana Kemp and Lukac/Andjela Nemcevic.
Friday's action begins at 8:30 a.m. with the first two rounds of singles and the opening slate of doubles. The competition continues Saturday with two more rounds on both sides with the quarterfinals set for Sunday. Semifinals for singles and doubles are contested Monday, before the championship matches on Tuesday.
