WILSON ON WICKS: "Nicole is the epitome of the word intensity. She is such a competitor.
"Nicole is another player who has the opportunity to realize a dream. She came in here as a walk-on, and has improved every day since. Nicole has such a deep appreciation for this game -- and the opportunity to play this game at this level. She has a phenomenal arm, is extremely strong, has the capability to hit for power, and has become one of the best base runners on this team. Nicole has made the transition from shortstop to second base this season, and has done a great job. I look for some real surprises from this young lady before her career is complete."
AT WASHINGTON: Looks to see starting time at second base, after shifting over from shortstop ... an improved hitter, who also boasts good range on defense ... quick on the base-paths.

HIGH SCHOOL: A four-year star at Hazen High School, garnering four letters ... named the Seamount League most valuable player as a junior and senior, earning first-team all-conference honors both years ... a honorable mention all-league pick as a freshman and sophomore ... helped Hazen to a pair of league titles as well as a seventh-place finish her senior season at the state tournament ... a three-sport athlete at Hazen, who also earned four letters in soccer and three in basketball ... first team all-league as a junior and senior in soccer ... played summer ball most recently for the Kitsap County Braves, placing 25th at the 2000 American Fastpitch Association (AFA) Nationals in Texas ... also played from 1996-99 with the Southend Rebels.

NICOLE UNPLUGGED
The UW player who will surprise people most this year:
Rita Roach, because this year she can bat with two hands.
My best memory of last season:
Taking 2-of-3 in the Cal-Stanford series to start Pac-10 play, when most bets were for us to go 0-3.
Being at Washington has taught me:
That the harder you work, the more success means.
Best place to eat in Seattle:
Red Robin on the waterfront, because they have good food and a good view.
If I could tell my incoming teammates one thing it would be:
Don't ask why, just do it.
