Q & A With Sophomore Forward Spencer Schmidt - Gohuskies.com (Sept. 8, 2005)
At Washington:
2005 (Sophomore) - Played in 17 games, starting 14... tied for second on team with three goals and tied for fourth with seven points...tallied team-high 46 shots...scored goals versus Cal Poly (Sept. 2) and Stanford (Oct. 23)...had the gamewinning goal in the 89th minute versus Air Force (Sept. 18)...his score capped a three-goal rally in the final eight minutes that overcame a 2-0 deficit...recorded an assist against Oregon State (Nov. 13).
2004 (Freshman) - Played in 13 matches, starting one...tallied one assist on Leo Totev's goal in season opener at Gonzaga (Sept. 1)...took a total of 12 shots...has a season-high four shots against St. Mary's (Sept. 17).
Club/High School:
Played for Abbotsford Mariners Club Team...led team to first place finish at the Provincial Team Nationals and a second place finish at Club Nationals in 2001...won at Club Provincials in 2003 and went on to win the Club Nationals championships with the Mariners...was named Abbotsford Male Player of the Year 2001...Received B.C. Soccer Athlete of the Year honors in 2001.

Spencer Schmidt...son of Cornelia and Elmer Schmidt...mother is a nurse's aid and father is a dry-waller...has younger brother, Bruce (13) and younger sister, Sophie (16)...Sophie is currently playing with the World Cup Canadian National Soccer Team.
