
Husky Men Spring Into Action In Eugene

EUGENE, Ore. - After two weeks off, the No. 4/5 ranked Husky men's golf team returns to action on Monday in the 2013 Oregon Duck Invitational at Eugene Country Club.
The Huskies are among 15 competing in the two-day, 54-hole tournament at the 7,020-yard, par-72 course. Six teams from the Pac-12 Conference will compete.
Besides Washington, Oregon, Oregon State, Arizona, Washington State and Utah from the Pac-12 are playing. Out of conference foes include Pacific, Saint Mary's, San Diego, Gonzaga, San Francisco, San Jose State, UAB, SMU and Wichita State.
Washington is ranked No. 4 in the Golfstat.com rankings and No. 5 in the Golfweek.com/Sagarin rankings.
Among individuals, sophomore Cheng-Tsung Pan is ranked 8th in both the Golfstat.com and Golfweek.com rankings. Junior Trevor Simsby is No. 16 and No. 19, while senior Chris Williams is No. 25 and No. 24 in the respective polls.
Williams is still ranked as the No. 1 player in the World Amateur Rankings, while Pan is No. 7. In the Palmer Cup Team rankings, Simsby is sixth and Williams - a two-time member - is 15th.
That trio of Huskies will be joined in the lineup by freshmen Charlie Hughes and Larry Iverson will be competing as individuals.
Monday's action will feature two rounds of 18 holes and will begin at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday's final round will also begin at 8:30 a.m. Five players from each participating school will compete for the overall team championship and four of the five scores will count toward the team's score.
The Huskies last won the team championship in 2009 and Williams was the 2011 individual championship.
