Kim Notches Top-10 At Juli Inkster Spartan Invite

SAN JOSE, Calif. - SooBin Kim tied for sixth and Kelli Bowers was 11th to lead Washington to a fourth-place finish in the Juli Inkster Spartan Invite at Almaden Golf and Country Club on Tuesday.
The 12th-ranked Huskies entered the tournament as the top-ranked team but finished well behind repeat champion California. The Bears ended up +15 to take the team title over Oregon by 13 shots. UC Davis was fourth at +25.
"The conditions were really tough today," Husky Head Coach Mary Lou Mulflur explained about the high scores. "The winds were blowing 25 to 30 miles per hour, so if you missed a shot, it really could end up anywhere on the course."
Washington shot 907 (296-300-311) to finish at +43 overall.
Only two golfers finished the 54-hole tournament at the par-72 golf course in San Jose under par. Both were from California: Joanne Lee (-2) and Daniela Holmqvist (-1).
Kim shot a 5-over 77 during today's final round to end up +6 overall for the tournament. She tied with three other golfers for 6th. It marks the fourth top-10 finish in six tournaments for the freshman from British Columbia.

Bowers had her best end result of the year after duplicating Kim's 77 and finishing 11th. She was +8 overall.
"It's good to see Kelli's game coming around," said Mulflur. "She has been working hard, but her 1-under yesterday should give her confidence moving forward."
Jennifer Yang notched a top-20 finish by ending up 17th. She was +13 after firing a 79 on Tuesday.
Junior Brittany Tallman shot 83 in the final round, but still managed to finish fourth among Huskies tied for 34th.
Freshman Cyd Okino turned in her best 18 of the three round tournament with a 78 and finished 43rd.
The Huskies next hit the circuit playing in the Battle at Rancho Bernardo in San Diego from March 18-20.
