
No. 24 Huskies Post Highest Road Score Of The Season

BERKELEY, Calif. - Coming off of their best score of the season last weekend at home, the No. 24-ranked UW gymnastics team took that momentum on the road in the final dual meet of 2012. UW posted its second-straight score above 196, defeating Cal 196.250-191.775.
As a team, the Huskies posted season-high on beam (49.100) and floor (49.175) while also getting high scores of 48.850 on vault and 49.125 on bars.
"We are on a good roll right now and peaking at the right time," said head coach Joanne Bowers. "It was a good team effort and I'm very proud of them all."
Individually, the Huskies took the top six spots on vault, top two on bars, top five on beam and top six on floor. There were just two all-around performers in the meet and freshman McKenzie Fechter (Mequon, Wis.) won her second all-around title of the year with a 39.225.
Fechter tied teammate Lauren Rogers, a junior from Plains, Pa., for the vault title with score of 9.800.
Rogers also tied for the floor title with senior Ruby Engreitz (Kirkland, Wash.), scoring a 9.875. This scored tied a new career-high for both gymnasts on the event.
Engreitz took the bars title with another 9.875 and junior Paige Bixler (Rowlett, Texas) won the beam with a 9.900. Bixler set a new season-high with her beam score and tied for her season-best on the floor with a 9.825.
Senior Amanda Cline (Aurora, Colo.) set a career-best on floor, scoring a 9.775. Freshman Madison Podlucky (Redmond, Wash.) set a new season and career-high on floor with a 9.775.
Sophomore Aliza Vaccher (Eugene, Ore.) tied season-bests of 9.850 on bars and 9.800 on beam. Also tying a season-best on beam was junior Megan Whitney (Mesa, Ariz.) with a 9.850.
Next up for the Huskies is the Pac-12 Championship in Salt Lake City, Utah on March 24.
