
Fechter Has Career Night At Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz. - Freshman McKenzie Fechter (Mequon, Wis.) set a new career-high on all four events and the all-around to lead the No. 25 UW gymnastics team in a dual meet at No. 14 Arizona Friday night. The Wildcats defeated the Huskies, 195.675-194.925.
Fechter was the only Husky to compete in the all-around at the meet and finished second with an impressive 39.375. It was a new career-high for Fechter by .225 points. Aubree Cristello won the meet with a 39.450.
Fechter tied for first on the beam with a 9.850 along with Cristello and Britnie Jones of Arizona. She was also the top Husky finisher on floor (9.850) on bars (9.850), placing second on each. She also tied for fifth on the vault with a 9.825.
UW was impressive on vault, posting a new season-best for the team with a 49.175. Sophomore Aliza Vaccher (Eugene, Ore.) and junior Lauren Rogers (Plains, Pa.) tied for first with scores of 9.850; a new career-best for Vaccher. Senior Ruby Engreitz (Kirkland, Wash.) post a season-best 9.825 and junior Kylie Sharp (Merriman, Utah), set a career-best with a 9.825.
Engreitz tied Fechter for second on the bars with season-best 9.850.
As a team, UW also posted a 48.775 on bars, a 48.875 on floor and ending on beam, having to count a fall again with a 48.100.
The Huskies host Arizona State along with the UW men's club team at 7 p.m. on March 2 at Alaska Airlines Arena.
