STANFORD, Calif. -- Freshman SooBin Kim narrowly missed winning at Stanford for the second time this season and the Husky women's golf team finished third at the Peg Barnard Invitational on Sunday.
Kim ended up tied for third at 4-over 146 in the two-round, 36-hole tournament at Stanford Golf Course, one stroke behind co-medalists Emily Childs of California and Christine Uhalde of Fresno State. Kim shot a respectable even par 71 in Sunday's final round, but three-putted - despite sitting 20 feet away from the hole - on her final hole.
"I didn't even realize she was one stroke down. I felt bad for her because I don't know if anyone has won both in the fall and the spring," Husky Coach Mary Lou Mulflur said of Kim, who won the Stanford Intercollegiate at the same course back in October.
"You can point at any of her five other three putts during the tournament, but the last one was really big."

| 33 | Brittany Tallman (4) | 78 | 80 | 158 |

Before Kim bogeyed her final hole, she recorded back-to-back birdies to get into title contention.
Despite the disappointing finish, Washington was third out of 12 teams and finished one-stroke behind host Stanford. The Husky five combined to shoot 607 (+39).
California won the team title with a two-day total of 587 (+19).
"I don't know why the scores were so high," Mulflur said as her team headed to Monterrey for a golf outing at Cypress Hills on Monday. "The course was in great shape and the greens were fast, but they are always fast. The weather was perfect.
"I don't know...maybe it was because it was our first time out this spring, but they are working hard and they are doing the right thing. It just wasn't what I expected out of the gate for us."
The par-71 golf course ate up much of the competition. Only 17 golfers in the 70 person field shot lower than +10 over two days.
Freshman Cyd Okino was the only other Husky to finish under double-digits over par. She shot 7-over 78 on Sunday and ended up +9 overall and tied for 13th.
Kelli Bowers shot 154 (78-76) and tied for 24th. Brittany Tallman was 33rd at 158 and Jennifer Yang tied for 34th at 159.
