
Men's Soccer Drops Pac-12 Opener At Oregon State

CORVALLIS, Ore. - UW got a penalty kick goal in the final minute of play but it wasn't enough as Oregon State upset No. 22 UW, 2-1 on Friday night in Corvallis, Ore. UW is now 5-2-2 overall and 0-1-0 in Pac-12 play.
The Huskies went down early, 2-0 at half as Mike Reckmeyer and Emery Welshman both scored.
The first goal was in the 30th minute assisted by Welshman who then scored on an assist by Khiry Shelton in the 43rd minute.
"We weren't used to the physical tough side of conference games and it cost us early," said head coach Jamie Clark. "Once (our) guys started to really compete and we looked very good."
Dylan Tucker-Gangnes (Bainbridge Island, Wash.) scored the lone goal for the Huskies with 48 seconds left in the game on a penalty kick. It was the second goal of the season for Tucker-Gangnes.
UW took 12 corner kicks to just three for Oregon State and out-shot the Beavers 16-14. .Senior Brent Richards (Camas, Wash.) led UW with five shots.
Sophomore goalkeeper Spencer Richey (Seattle, Wash.) made five saves in goal.
