SEATTLE - The No. 6/6 Huskies took the series vs. No. 14/15 Oregon with two wins on Saturday but fell in the finale Sunday, 8-0 in six innings. Washington falls to 27-3 and 2-1 in league play while Oregon improves to 29-6 and 1-2.
Freshman Kaitlin Inglesby (Portland, Ore.) fell to 15-2 in the circle, allowing five runs on five hits in 2.2 innings. Freshmen Whitney Jones (Upland, Calif.) and Bryana Walker (La Quinta, Calif.) both pitched in relief. Jones pitched 2.2 innings, allowing two earned runs on four hits. Walker allowed one hit in 0.2 innings.
Oregon outhit the Huskies 10-5 and scored all eight runs in the third and sixth innings.
Freshman Marki Creger-Zier (Steilacoom, Wash.) got the first hit of the game for UW in the first. She had two hits in the game. UW also got hits from sophomore Shawna Wright (Lancaster, Calif.), senior Morgan Stuart (Riverside, Calif.) and freshman Victoria Hayward (Mountain View, Calif.).
The Ducks got five runs in the third all with two outs against Inglesby. Jones allowed a hit in relief as two more runs scored. Oregon got three more in the sixth to end the game by way of mercy rule.
The best chance the Huskies had was in the fifth inning. UW left the bases loaded.
Washington returns to Pac-10 action in Seattle next weekend, hosting Cal Friday- Sunday.
