SAN MARTIN, Calif -- The Husky men's golf team closed out their fall portion of the schedule by finishing fifth as a team in the Gifford Intercollegiate at CordeValle Golf Club on Wednesday.
Washington was led by All-American Chris Williams, who finished fourth out of 72 golfers. Williams shot his third-consecutive round of 70 at the par-71 course to end up at 3-under 210.
USC, anchored by individual medalist Steve Lim, took home the team title after compiling a score of -8. Lim was 11-under 202 for the win.
Lim won by one shot over the world's No. 1 ranked amateur Patrick Cantlay of UCLA. Cantlay's tournament helped push his Bruins to a second-place finish. UCLA shot 4-under and were the only other team besides USC to finish under par.
Oregon was third at +20 and Virginia was fourth at +28. The No. 3 ranked Huskies ended up one shot back of the Cavaliers at +29.

Williams was the lone Huskies' golfer to finish under par at the tournament. For a second-straight day, he had two birdies and just one bogey during his 18 holes.
Williams ends the fall portion of the schedule with a win, a fourth-place finish, plus 10th and 17th place finish.
Next among the Huskies' contingent was freshman Cheng-Tsung Pan. Pan notched his third-consecutive top-10 finish by ending up tied for 10th at +2 for the tourney.
Pan had to rally to earn his place in the top-10. He entered the day tied for 20th and got off to a slow start with bogey on his starting hole (No. 14), followed by a birdie and back-to-back bogeys. Over his next 14 holes he went bogey-free and tallied three birdies to shoot 70 for the round.
"Chris and Pan were solid all day and they really had nice tournaments," said UW Coach Matt Thurmond. "The other four guys were just battling and trying to get back. We just never really got anything going today and made too many big mistakes.
"As a whole, I don't know if we were all just tired. We've been going hard since last January and we just didn't have a very sharp week."
Cory McElyea shot 75 on Wednesday to end up +10 overall and tied for 30th.
Trevor Simsby started the tournament hot with a 67 on Sunday, but could not maintain the momentum throughout. He shot consecutive 79's to end up 12-over 225 and tied for 41st.
Sophomore Gerrit Chambers was fifth among Huskies at 227 (+14). He ended up tied for 48th.
Junior Charlie Hughes shot his second 77 of the tourneay and ended up +16. He tied for 55th.
Next up for the Huskies is the Western Refining Oil College All-American Classic, where Williams will represent the UW on Nov. 20-22 at the El Paso Country Club.
The Huskies return to action as a team on Feb. 1 for the University of Hawai'i Invite on the Big Island.
