
Good Day For Goodwin At Palouse Collegiate

PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington sophomore Dylan Goodwin led seven Huskies competing as individuals at the Palouse Collegiate with a first round score of even-par 72. Goodwin is tied with 12 others at eighth overall, three strokes behind a trio of golfers that shot 69.
One shot behind Dylan at 1-over 73 is freshman Larry Iverson. Iverson is tied for 21st in his collegiate debut after he shot a 38 on the front nine and bouncecd back with a 1-under 35.
Two Huskies, sophomore Jens Bracht and freshman Chris Williams, are each at 2-over 74 (T31st). Both players struggled on the front nine before heating up on the back. Bracht shot a 3-under 33 on the back nine, after shooting 5-over 41 on the front, while Williams went 4-over 40, and 2-under 34.
The UW's third freshman newcomer, Charlie Hughes, shot a 3-over 75 and is tied for 35th. Hughes made most of his hay on the four par-5 holes, shooting a tournament leading 4-under.
Junior Kevin Spooner and sophomore Ty Chambers are tied for 52nd after each shot a 5-over 77.
The Palouse Collegiate is the inaugural collegiate men's golf tournament at Palouse Ridge. There are 12 schools vying for the team title in addition to a number of individual competitors.
Jarred Bossio (Idaho), Matt Hovan (San Jose State) and Tim Honeycutt (UC-Davis) lead the pack of 78 competitors at 3-under 69.
Sacramento State (286) leads host Washington State (288) by two strokes. UC-Davis (289) is third, followed by Loyola Marymount (290) and San Jose State (291).
