Three golfers notched six birdies apiece today: Isaiah Telles (Oregon), David Miller (Navy) and Phillip Mollica (Clemson). After the first day, Telles is tied for third place, while Miller and Mollica are both tied for 64th.
Oregon's Joey Benedetti is alone in first place at the end of day one after shooting a three-under 69. Pepperdine's Eric Shriver finished round one in second place with a two-under 70. Five golfers are tied for fifth place with a one-under 71: Kevin Chappel (UCLA), Rob Grube (Stanford), Nick Taylor (Washington), Isaiah Telles (Oregon) and Dan Woltman (Wisconsin).
The tournament's top-ranked player, No. 3 Jamie Lovemark, is tied for eighth place after finishing with an even-par 72.
The tournament's top-seeded team, USC, finished the day in a tie for second place with a three-over 291. Tied with the Trojans in second are No. 2 seed UCLA and Washington. Five of the top-10 teams in the NCAA West Regional are from the Pac-10, with Oregon leading the standings (with a one-over 289) and Stanford in ninth place with an eight-over 296.
