Huskies Tied For 6th After First Round Of UNLV Spring Invite

BOULDER CREEK, Nev. - Washington women's golf shot a first-round score of 5-over 293 and is tied for sixth after the first day of the UNLV Spring Invite at the Boulder Creek Golf Club, Monday.
The Huskies are tied with BYU and enter the second round just one shot behind Oregon and Texas Tech who are tied for fourth. Host UNLV leads the 18-team field at 4-under 284.
Freshman Anya Alvarez leads the Huskies after carding an even-par 72 on Monday. Alvarez is tied for 14th on the individual leaderboard. She shot four birdies on the day, three of them coming on the back nine after finishing the front nine at 2-over par.
Joining Alvarez in the Top-20 is sophomore Christina Yoon who shot 1-over 73. Yoon is tied for 19th with 11 other competitors.
Freshman Katie Saucier and sophomore Molly Aronsson both shot 2-over 74 and are tied for 31st. Freshman Nicole Ferrero rounds out the Husky lineup, carding a 6-over 78 (tied for 65th).
Idaho's Kelly Nakashima holds a one-stroke lead over four players in second-place after shooting a first-round score of 4-under 68.
The UNLV Spring Invite continues with the second round on Tuesday and the final round on Wednesday. Live scoring for the event is available at Golfstat.com
