PALO ALTO, Calif. - Washington's run at the ITA Northwest Regional Championships came to an end today, as the doubles duo of sophomores Venise Chan and freshman Denise Dy lost a close match in the quarterfinals.
The UW pair won their first three matches together this weekend, before running into the tourney's No. 3 seeds, Claire Ilcinkas and Marina Cossou of Cal, this afternoon. Ilcinkas and Cossou are the 24th-ranked doubles team in the nation. Chan and Dy hung tough, however the Bear team pulled out an 8-6 victory.
The Huskies will hit the practice courts again for a few weeks and then complete the fall season with the SDSU Fall Classic #2, beginning November 7.
