PALO ALTO, Calif. - The Washington women's golf team shot a final round score of 34-over 318 to end up in a tie for 13th at the Stanford Intercollegiate held at Stanford Golf Course, Sunday.
The Huskies ended the three-day, 54-hole event at 78-over 930 overall and tied with San Jose State in the 18-team field that featured 11 squads ranked nationally in the latest GolfWeek Top-30.
Husky freshman Karinn Dickinson led the way for the Huskies, finishing 32nd in the individual standings at 12-over 225. Playing in her first collegiate event, Dickinson carded three-straight rounds of 4-over par 75. She sank six birdies during her final round on Sunday and her three rounds of 75 were the lowest scores by any Husky during the tournament.
UW sophomore Molly Aronsson tied for 53rd at 21-over 234 after shooting a final-round score of 7-over 78. Finishing behind her were sophomore Christina Yoon (tied for 60th, 23-over 236), freshman Nicole Ferrero (tied for 68th, 25-over 238) and freshman Anya Alvarez (tied for 80th, 31-over 244).
Arizona State rallied in the final round to win the Stanford Intercollegiate team title, shooting 8-under 276 on Sunday and sliding past Duke who led through the first two rounds. The Sun Devils were bolstered by three players who carded sub-60 final round scores including runner-up Jennifer Osborn (4-under 67) and third place finishers Anna Nordqvist (4-under 67) and Azahara Munoz (2-under 69).
ASU finished at 10-over 862, followed by Duke (14-over 866) and UCLA (20-over 872). Arkansas's Stacy Lewis took home medalist honors, finishing the tournament at 2-under 211.
Washington has one more tournament on its fall schedule - the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown to be held Oct. 29-31.
