Husky defensive back Mesphin Forrester's fourth-quarter interception was the first of his career. Forrester backs up at both cornerback and safety and frequently plays in nickel situations.

By the end of the first quarter, UW junior wideout Marcel Reece had caught two passes for 47 yards. Prior to today, he'd made only one catch for nine yards in the Huskies' two prior games.

Both of Washington's two first-half scoring drives went 13 plays. On the season, the Huskies have had five scoring drives go 13 plays.

For the second time this season (also San Jose State), Husky QB Isaiah Stanback both ran and threw for touchdowns. He only accomplished that feat five times last season.

With Forrester's late interception, the chance for a turnover-free game came to an end. However, the last time the UW played in a game in which neither team committed a turnover was October 7, 2000, a 33-30 Washington win over Oregon State at Husky Stadium (the game in which Oregon State's last second field goal missed). Oregon State fumbled the ball three times in that game, but the UW didn't recover any of them.

Punter Sean Douglas entered the week as the nation's leading punter, easily ahead of the pack with a 52.13-yard average. He, not surprisingly, lowered the average by kicking six balls for an average of 44.3 yards. Still, he increased his career punting average with to 43.28, the top average in Washington history.

Safety C.J. Wallace notched 17 tackles today, tying a career-high. Wallace also notched 17 tackles last season vs. Notre Dame. He also forced a fumble.

Washington was held to a season-low 128 yards rushing after gaining 300 in game one and 202 last week at Oklahoma.

Quintin Daniels, who missed most of the last two seasons with injury, tied his career high with three catches.

The UW student that made the five field goals in the Cingular "Raising the Bar" promotion was Kyle Smith, a sophomore architecture major from Renton, Wash. He made field goals from the goal line, the 5-, 10-, 15- and 20-yard lines and won a $5,000 tuition credit, courtesy of Cingular.
