Men's Golf Ties For Seventh At CordeValle Collegiate

SAN MARTIN, Calif. - Led by Alex Prugh's final round score of seven-under 65, Washington men's golf tied for seventh at the CordeValle Collegiate hosted by UCLA at the CordeValle Country Club in San Martin, Calif., Tuesday.
The Huskies recorded their best round of the tournament over the final 18 holes, shooting two-under 286. Washington finished the tournament at four-under 860 (287-287-286-860) and ended in a tie with the host Bruins, who also finished at four under after posting a final round score of seven-under 281. Stanford won the tournament title at 42-under 822, 20-under 268 in the final round. USC finished second (28-under 836) and Arizona finished third (23-under 841).
Prugh, along with Stanford's Rob Grube and USC's Joshua Wooding, turned in the lowest score of the day carding a 65. Prugh rolled in nine birdies, seven pars and two bogies, Tuesday. He finished the tournament at one-under 215 and tied for 25th after beginning the day tied for 73rd (77-73-65-215).
The other Husky competitors recorded Top-50 finishes, led by Darren Wallace who tied for 43rd at two-over 218. Wallace shot one-over 73 in the final round, after carding rounds of two-under 69 and four-over 76 in the previous two rounds. Joel Dahmen, Zach Bixler and Erik Olson all tied for 50th at three-over 219. Olson had his best round of the tournament, Tuesday, shooting an even-par 72.
The tournament marks the end of the fall season for the Huskies who will next take to the links Feb. 7-9 at the Waikola Intercollegiate in Hilo, Hawaii.
