Today's game was the first overtime game ever played at Husky Stadium. Washington has only played five overtime games all-time: 1996 at WSU (a 31-24 UW win), 1999 at UCLA (a 23-20 UCLA win), 2002 at WSU (a 29-26 UW in in triple overtime) and last week at Cal (a 31-24 Bears victory).

Wide receiver Sonny Shackelford, who threw a 41-yard touchdown pass to Anthony Russo in the fourth quarter, had attempted one pass in each of the last two seasons, but both prior attempts were incomplete. Shackelford spent some of his high school years as a quarterback at Beverly Hills HS.

Washington senior receiver Anthony Russo has caught a pass in 21 consecutive games, counting today's.

UW senior walkon quarterback Felix Sweetman saw his first action of the season for the Huskies on the punt team. He wore #40 so as not to have the same uniform number as punter Sean Douglas (17). Quarterback Johnny Durocher also saw his first action of the year for the UW.

With 4:39 remaining in the first quarter, Husky tight end Johnie Kirton, who came to the UW as a tailback, carried the ball for the first time in his career -- a one-yard run.

Opponents have converted the last 11 Husky turnover to just three points - a field goal last weekend at Cal. The last time an opponent scored a touchdown after a UW turnover was Sept. 23 when UCLA converted the first of four takeaways into 7 points on a Chris Markey run.

Husky senior fullback Mark Palaita had his first carry of the season in the second quarter, rushing for two yards on a third-and-one play.

ASU's Josh Barrett became the first Husky opponent to notch two interceptions in a game since Cal's Wendell Hunter picked off two passes against the Dawgs on Nov. 13, 2004.

Husky senior tailback Shelton Sampson saw his first action of the season, entering the game with about 5:20 left in the third quarter. Sampson did not carry the ball, however. Senior tailback Kenny James, the starter in the first eight games of the season, didn't play due to an ankle injury suffered last Saturday at California.

The UW marching band was joined at halftime by Musica Grata, a marching band from Hima, Japan. It was the band's first performance in the U.S.

Prior to the game, the UW team arrived at the Waterfront Activities Center and, preceeded by members of the Husky Marching Band and cheer squad, made a special walk into the southeast entrance of the stadium. The women's rowing team lined the entrance with its oars raised.

During the game, a special recognition of the the 2006 Husky Hall of Fame class was held. Honored were former rower and rowing coach Jan Harville, former football coach Jim Lambright, Greg Lewis (football), Todd MacCulloch (basketball), Aretha (Hill) Thurmond (track & field) and Jody Braden (swimming).

Today's Husky Legend, honored at the end of the third quarter, was former defensive back Calvin Jones (1970-72).

ASU NOTES

Josh Barrett's first quarter interception was his first of the season and the third of his career. His second quarter interception gave him the first multi-interception game of his career.

Prior to Barrett, the last Sun Devil to intercept two passes in one game was Josh Golden, who picked off two passes against Stanford on November 6, 2004.

ASU held their opponent scoreless in the first quarter for the second straight week and third time this season.

Kyle Williams made his college football debut in the second quarter.

Jamaal Lewis' 12-yard TD catch was his first of the year and the 10th of his career.

The 65-yard touchdown run by Keegan Herring in the third quarter was the second longest of his career (67).

Keegan Herring now has four rushing touchdowns in his last two games.

Prior to UW's fourth quarter TD pass, ASU had not allowed a touchdown in seven straight quarters.
