Huskies Fall to No. 1 Utah

Salt Lake City - Sophomore Chelsea Bakken won a share of the vault title and tied for second on floor to lead the Husky gymnastics team, but No. 1 Utah (10-2) won the meet 197-850-195.175 to remain perfect at home. The Huskies (10-7) team total was their second-highest of the season, while Utah recorded its eighth highest score all-time.
The Huskies found themselves in a hole early as they began the evening on bars, scoring a 48.675, while Utah opened with a 49.525 on vault. Molly Seaman and Carly Dockendorf each scored a 9.850 to tie for fourth. For Seaman, it was the first time this year she has competed on bars.
The two squads switched apparatuses and the Huskies notched a season-high 49.250 on vault. Bakken scored a career-high 9.925 to earn a share of first-place with Utah's Nicolle Ford and Rachel Tidd. Senior Tacia LaBatte recorded a season-high 9.900 to tie for fourth, while Carly Dockendorf recorded a career-high 9.850 to tie freshman Natalie Gillan for eighth.
Washington's third event was floor, where Bakken and Dockendorf tied for third overall with 9.875. Natalie Gillan recorded a 9.825 to take eighth, while Raimey Iselin set a career-high with a 9.775 to take ninth.
The Huskies finished the evening on beam where the Huskies had three falls. Utah's Ashley Postell scored a 10.000 to win the event. The Huskies top finisher was Seaman, who scored a 9.850.
"We came out of the meet healthy and the mistakes we made are correctable," said head coach Bob Levesque. "We have to get some confidence and find some consistency, but we'll be fine."
The Huskies have little time to rest as they will host Boise State on Monday, March 14 at 7:00 p.m. in Bank of America Arena.
