
Lepp in Third Place at Ashworth Invitational

Westlake Village, CA - Washington junior golfer James Lepp is in third place after the first 36 holes of play at the Ashworth Invitational. Lepp carded rounds of 71 and 68 to finish the first day of play at 3-under 139. He trails Georgia Southern's Aron Price by six strokes and Tennessee's Ross McGowan by three shots. The final round of the tournament, played at the North Ranch Country Club in Westlake Village, Calif., will take place Tuesday.
Lepp entered the event after setting Washington's 54-scoring record during his last outing. He shot 18-under 198 at the Waikoloa Intercollegiate to better the old mark by four strokes.
Washington is tied for eighth along with Vanderbilt. The Huskies and Commodores shot 26-over 594. Tennessee leads the field at 563. Host USC is four strokes behind the Volunteers. Washington opened play with a 293 to stand in fourth place after the day's first round. The Huskies slipped back four spots after posting a 301 during the afternoon round.
Erik Olson is in 43rd for the Huskies with rounds of 74 and 76 for a two-round total of 150. Joe Panzeri equaled his career best by starting the tournament with a 71. He shot 81 in the second round to finish 51st at 152. Alex Prugh is one shot back at 153 while Zach Bixler is 74th at 159.
